House updates...

We're getting closer...with just over 3 weeks to go!  It's been an exciting week at 350 Windsor with the cabinets being installed.  Granite and appliances go in middle of next week, as well as paint gets finished.  After that, we just have the floors to sand and finish and punch...and we're dunzo!

Oldies, but some goodies...

These are pics that I have pirated from Sarah and Ben's Rehearsal dinner slide show...

Ben - month or two, Jennifer - 7, and Matt - 3

Ben and me, likely at Daytona.  My hatred of sand hasn't really changed!  Ben,
on the other hand, loved it.
Mountains somewhere in the early 80's.
probably Daytona again, also in the early 80's...
gotta love stirrups...how all players should wear a

Tina Fey's prayer for a daughter...

First, Lord: No tattoos. May neither Chinese symbol for truth nor Winnie-the-Pooh holding the FSU logo stain her tender haunches.

May she be Beautiful but not Damaged, for it’s the Damage that draws the creepy soccer coach’s eye, not the Bea......uty.

When the Crystal Meth is offered, May she remember the parents who cut her grapes in half And stick with Beer.

Guide her, protect her
When crossing the street, stepping onto boats, swimming in the ocean, swimming in pools, walking near pools, standing on the subway platform, crossing 86th Street, stepping off of boats, using mall restrooms, getting on and off escalators, driving on country roads while arguing, leaning on large windows, walking in parking lots, riding Ferris wheels, roller-coasters, log flumes, or anything called “Hell Drop,” “Tower of Torture,” or “The Death Spiral Rock ‘N Zero G Roll featuring Aerosmith,” and standing on any kind of balcony ever, anywhere, at any age.

Lead her away from Acting but not all the way to Finance. Something where she can make her own hours but still feel intellectually fulfilled and get outside sometimes And not have to wear high heels.

What would that be, Lord? Architecture? Midwifery? Golf course design? I’m asking You, because if I knew, I’d be doing it, Youdammit.

May she play the Drums to the fiery rhythm of her Own Heart with the sinewy strength of her Own Arms, so she need Not Lie With Drummers.

Grant her a Rough Patch from twelve to seventeen. Let her draw horses and be interested in Barbies for much too long, For childhood is short – a Tiger Flower blooming Magenta for one day – And adulthood is long and dry-humping in cars will wait.

O Lord, break the Internet forever, That she may be spared the misspelled invective of her peers And the online marketing campaign for Rape Hostel V: Girls Just Wanna Get Stabbed.

And when she one day turns on me and calls me a Bitch in front of Hollister, Give me the strength, Lord, to yank her directly into a cab in front of her friends, For I will not have that Shit. I will not have it.

And should she choose to be a Mother one day, be my eyes, Lord, that I may see her, lying on a blanket on the floor at 4:50 A.M., all-at-once exhausted, bored, and in love with the little creature whose poop is leaking up its back.

“My mother did this for me once,” she will realize as she cleans feces off her baby’s neck. “My mother did this for me.” And the delayed gratitude will wash over her as it does each generation and she will make a Mental Note to call me. And she will forget. But I’ll know, because I peeped it with Your God eyes.

House Renovations coming along...

We're almost 4 weeks into our 7-8 week house renovation project at 350 Windsor.  A lot of the heavy lifting is behind us now, as all the framing is done, as well as mechanical and most of the electrical.  Walls are up.  This week is going to be hardwoods, sanding, painting, etc.

The living room will be broken up into a mud room on the rear of the house - office on the front...

Here are some additional pics, that I didn't have quite matches of older pics...

This door on the right will be replaced by a french-style
door.

den area.  TV is going up on the wall, as you can see by the TV mount.

We replaced the door to the bonus room, with an exterior-
style french door.  You can now at least see down the
hallway.

Easter!

It was a weekend full of Easter Egg hunts for the Emster, as she had one on Saturday (Fannie Hinson's) and one (Meadowbrook) on Sunday.  She was very into it this year, and even warmed up a bit to the Easter Bunny (Daddy got the year off this year).

These pics are from Saturday's event.

maybe not a hug, but at least got a tickle, and gave him 5!

Pete just rolled over...

for the first time, and then actually rolled himself back over. 4 months, 13 days.

Pete in his bouncy seat

We had a nice relaxing wknd this past weekend.  I did have a funeral on Sat. morning for Phi Delt's cook, Richard Johnson.  It was good to see 25 or so Phi's there.  Other than that, we watched a lot of the Masters (Charl Schwartzel birdies the last 4 holes to win!), went to the park for a bit, went to church, checked out the renovations going on at the house, and went to the GT vs. UVA baseball game.  Good weekend.

Pete got his first action in one of Emilie's favorite toys this past friday - the bouncy seat.  He's still another month or 2 away from really enjoying it, as he can't keep himself upright, but he seems to like it so far!

I can't seem to get this rotated properly...

A day at Augusta

I might've been the 5, or 15th, alternate for Mark's tickets to Augusta on Thursday, but I answered the bell when needed.

We - Me, Mark, Ken, and John - had a big day at Augusta.  Got in the gates about 11, and stayed til 6.  We basically hung out on the back nine, and then parked it on the hill on 16, so that you could see 6 green, 16, and 15 green.  It was an awesome day.  Rory McIlory lit up the leaderboard early with a 65, to be answered late in the day by Alvaro Quiros.  GT stud Matt Kuchar shot a solid 68, and is in the thick of it.

Of course, no Masters trip is complete without a journey into the gift shop.  I had to get a few little things for Em, Pete, and AM for sure.

Em's dress, AM's hat, and Pete's onesie
All in all, a great day!

Rick Reilly bags #11 at Cuscowilla...

I probably play Cwilla more than any course these days, which is not much...about 3-4 times a year.  The course, frankly, eats my lunch.  It's a par 70 with 2 par 5's that aren't even close to reachable, and turtleback greens all around that require precision in the chipping game...which is hard to be precise in when you play 6 times a year.

Rick Reilly likely plays a heckuva lot more golf than I.  And he bagged one on # 11 this week at Cwilla.  Reason #389 why I dislike Rick Reilly.

Emilie's naptime

Emilie wants no part of her crib for naps. She requires to sleep in "mommy and daddy's bed" and also requires that you lay with her until she falls asleep. There are no exceptions allowed. We probably are part to blame for this behavoir.

So, after usually 10 minutes or so of a little bit of talking, and threatening her that if she doesn't quiet down we are dumping her in her crib...she usually turns into this.

our daughter is somewhere in there...
