She has arrived!

Though most all of you who receive this blog as an email are already very well aware that our sweet little daughter Emilie has finally joined us, I am told by Matt to treat this more like our "Family Diary" so this post will be a bit of repeat for most of you! All the same- our best post yet- as we get to announce the birth of Emilie Newell Edwards who joined us on Monday, October 6,2008 at 8:59pm. She weighed 8lbs, 13 oz, and measured 21 1/2 inches long. And while it was a long Monday at Northside Hospital, it could not have ended better!

We now have our sweet bundle of joy at home with us and are enjoying every second with her! She spends most of her time sleeping, eating and gazing up at us with a curious look on her face. But we are noticing changes every day. We've certainly lost a little of the sleep we used to get but are adjusting surprisingly well. It's amazing how much less you can get by with!

It's been great for me being at home and spending time with her. We even ventured out of the house w/ mommy driving for the first time this past Monday. We didn't go further than a two mile radius from our home but I think she really enjoyed getting a look at Pike Nursery, Steinmart, Publix and Limetree! And each day we go a little further- or at least go somewher new. Yesterday we went to Chastain Park and took a long walk around the trail there, followed by a few more quick errands. I've become a real expert at popping the carseat in and out and getting Emilie into her stroller. She is a great shopping/errand running partner too. She agrees w/ everything I say. : )

I've attached just a few recent pics from this week, as most of you have seen the collection from the hospital and her first week. (I'll attach a couple of those too though).

While I'm home, I(we) are going to try and keep on top of our "blogging" a little bit better now that we can share things about Emilie, so if you get tired of hearing from us-feel free to take yourself off the email list- then you can just check in as you wish at the blog site. Til next time!

Just days away...

So we had a great doctor visit today, and there is news! If the baby doesn't decide to arrive before Sunday evening, our doctor has me heading to Northside Sunday night, to be induced on Monday! As he put it, the baby is "cooked".
We are so excited and really just can't wait. I think we're ready- as ready as we'll ever be at least! We'll keep you posted as much as we can! Since a few people have asked, below are a few photos of the nursery- future home of little our new baby boy or girl!

Week 36-almost 37!

Well here's me, at week 36! Several of you have asked for some more recent pictures so here they are(mostly for my international friends). : ) Didn't think I could get bigger but I am!

As Matt mentioned, I'm on weekly doctor visits now, and the doctor told me last week that we are definitely close! Obviously there's no telling when but he said he expects that the baby will either come a little early or right on time. Who knows though! I go back again on Thursday for the latest update!

Another addition to the family is our new car! We purchased it on Labor Day, and have been driving it for a few weeks. We had to say good bye to my trustee Volkswagen, which I will admit was a little bittersweet. I'm sure many of you heard me complain about that car, but in the end, it gave me almost 130,000 miles and not a ton of trouble really. Here's a tribute photo of me getting ready to hand over the keys. A shout out goes out to the ole Passat-I'll miss you! And... of course a shot of the new car that I must say is making the transition much easier. I'm having so much fun driving it! Poor Matt is not getting nearly as much time behind the wheel!

More Random posts from Matt...

Saw this monster outside of our house this evening, according to Wiki it s a Black and Yellow Argiope. Supposedly, harmless to humans, but scared the beejeezus out of me. Since last year's version was Fred, we'll call this one Wilma. See how long she stays with us. Fred was with us for a couple of months.

We also received 3 packages today, from all three major international shipping agencies, Fedex, UPS, and DHL. I find this humorous, so I took a picture of it.

As you all know, AM went to the dr. on Wednesday. They say that the baby might even be a little early, which I know excites her! I'll let her comment on that more.

VT 24 - GT 17....boooooooo. Just don't have a ton of confidence in this one.

Week 34!

Well,we are at 34 weeks now, only 6 left! Can't wait! We had a doctor's visit on Wednesday, which went well. Again- just pretty much "cruising" (as my doctor put it) until the baby is ready to join us. We can't wait to meet him or her! We've got the nursery pretty close to ready, just working on some final touches still. There's a picture here of where we are so far.



On other fronts, school's getting started back, so almost all of our nieces and nephews are heading to elementary or preschool! Here's a picture of Miss Kerrigan ready for her first day of preschool- couldn't be cuter!













Meanwhile, Matt and I are are car shopping and car selling-what fun! If you know of anyone who wants to buy a 99'VW Passat-send them our way. Or to craigslist.com.

And last, but of course not least, the Yellow Jackets won their season opener last night! Fun game to watch, 41-14, but too early to predict how the season will go. I'll let my husband speak more to that!

Week 30 Doctor Visit

Another trip to the doctor today so I figured I'd post it here on our blog since we are so high tech now. Good news-all is well! My glucose came back finelast week, so no more needles for now, which was nice! And the baby is a good size- they estimated it weighs about 3 lbs right now. I have to say it feels like a bit more and I think it might be unusually strong for a 3 pounder. We might have the 2026 starting kicker for the Yellow Jackets in here based on the jabs I've been getting to the ribs lately! And it's only gettin' stronger.
Anyways, as they say-no news is good news. There's really not too much more to report. Maybe one last thing-the midwife that was there today put in her "non-clinical but educated guess" and thinks that we are having a girl...we shall see... (And who knows-a girl could still be the starting kicker for the Jackets...as Matt said last night after reading the practice reports, GT is going to be "nationally dominant" in the next 10-20 years.)

are we really at week 30 yet?

So I'm sitting here eating a little lunch (2 PBJ's, light ruffles, grapes, and a DC for those who want to know...which is nobody), and thought I'd ramble a bit. We (mainly AM) are almost at week 30! Kindof crazy. Seems like yesterday when we were driving up to the mtns to meet my parents, and pondering the likelihood that she was pregnant.

Anyway, this last week has been a busy one. I tell ya, this work thing can be a little stressful at times. Both AM and myself are absolutely slammed at work. We also went to our first of 4 childbirth classes at Northside on Wednesday night, and it was actually pretty good. Our instructor is quite good, and for those of us who haven't been reading enough (i.e. me), I'm certainly learning a few things. Next week, we'll remember to bring some pillows! Oops.

Last night we checked out the Dark Knight, the new Batman movie. Highly recommend it.

The nursery is coming along. All the major parts have been ordered, and are "on the way". We bought a dresser last wknd, and picking up the crib this weekend,...so after that we're just waiting for things to show up, and then we'll need to get a few smaller items. Little touch-up work left to do on the trim and ceiling by this guy too! Sounds like a good Sunday afternoon project.

How 'bout my boy Duval? Let's forget the suhweet 83 he shot on Saturday at the British, but those were 3 really good rounds otherwise. Maybe there is hope yet...

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. I'm sure that we'll see/talk to the 2 of you who actually read this blog within the next few days. If not, have a good wknd!

Week 28 Check Up!

We saw the doctor today for our monthly visit and all is well! I had my glucose test, so we'll get those results tomorrow. I also had a lovely rhogam shot! (Right where the sun don't shine-oh the fun!)
The midwife(which we saw today instead of the doctor) did say that the baby is measuring about an inch bigger than average right now, so it looks like it's following in it's mom and dad's footsteps. I was an 8 pounder and Matt was a 9 pounder! (Lord help me).

The only other news to report is that the heart is sounding good, at a rate of 140, which is pretty much in the middle of the range.

After this week I'll start going every two weeks, and then eventually every week. Definitely a sign that we are getting closer!

28 week doctor visit tomorrow!

We'll get some pictures of me and my growing mid-section up on this site soon! Tomorrow is our 28 week appointment w/ the doctor. Getting my glucose tested...fun! And I also have to do another Rhogam test of some sort. My blood type is negative and Matt is positive - so more needles for me. Oh well!

First outfit purchase!

This was the first little outfit that we bought for the little one about a month ago, after registering at Babies-R-Us.

And we're off!

I figured that it was about time that we created a little website for ourselves, since we are less than 3 months away from the big day!
